Our big day - Sunday 9th October 2011 (09/10/11)

I've decided to keep up to date with my blogging. Today is 9th of March - 5 months since Adam and I got married! Which is exciting. It seems like we have been living together in our beautiful home forever! Love it! Today I am going to write a little bit about our big day. I want to list out a few details for those who either love weddings or possibly for someone needing ideas planning theirs.

 

Our wedding was awesome because we got to see God provide for us. Even though many times I was freaking out about finances, with the generosity from our wonderful friends and family our wedding was perfect. We had so many personal touches from everyone and it had made out day so memorable and so special.

Let's start with the dress: As you can see, beautiful simple detail.
I didn't want something over the top.

The dress we got cheaper than most because it was
on sale for less than $1000. It didn't come with a
train but we got it made with one for a few extra $$.

 

The dress: It is a sweetheart neckline, A-line dress shape, small train, and it had like 8 layers of fabric.
My tips on finding a great dress: Look around, start asap, start creating an idea of what you want. Look at sale items!!

We were blessed to have two photographers Ricardo and Paolo.
They were fantastic!

Smells beautiful, Adam will vouch for me. I wish you could
add smells to a blog!

Perfume! - Was it a necessity? No not really. But it made me feel special. And now I have the bottle for special occasions. I hope it lasts forever! I have no idea what the brand is or anything.
Go out and find something you love.

One of Mum's friends Anna, did all the girls hair.
I told the girls to choose what hairstyle they
wanted, and Anna made worked her magic!

A good friend Val did our makeup. She had flown from Brisbane
to Melbourne to be a guest at the wedding. She gave us some
of her time to make us look stunning. She was fabulous
and it meant a lot to me to have her there while getting ready.

Something blue.

While Ricardo was taking photos of the girls getting ready,
Paolo was able to get some wonderful photos of the boys.

Groomsmen had blue ties which matched perfectly to the
bridesmaids dresses.

Boys are lucky, they don't have much getting ready to do
so this is what they got up to before the wedding!

The rings

The bridesmaids bouquets. Kara, with the help of family made
each of the girls bouquets. Including the corsages!

My bouquet. The florist at Queen Vic Markets put together my
bouquet. Seriously if you are looking for flowers in Melbourne
ask me for their contact number. They were cheap & helpful!

The flowers are blue orchids and white roses.

The corsage! Adam's had a touch of blue to match me.

The Spithill family was amazing! They contributed so much to
our wedding! It would be impossible to list everything they helped
with. Andy, Paul and Tracey drove us to the church.

The church location was St John's Lutheran church Southgate. We chose the church for a few reasons. The location was right near the botanical gardens which is perfect for having the picnic close by. Southgate is also where Adam and I first met and it is also easy to get to the reception.
We also chose this church because it looks really beautiful and simple inside.

We had everything a royal blue theme. We put a lot of effort
into making all the royal blues match. And in the end it payed off.
This is the order of service that was handed out to everyone at
the ceremony. We also had menu's at the reception that looked
like this too.

Dad and I walking down the isle. I was so excited I felt sick
and I was smiling and crying at the same time!

Started our ceremony in prayer to keep God at the centre
right from the start.

Ps Jesse is a spiritual mentor in both of
our lives. We were so blessed to have
him conduct our ceremony.
I think we were his first official wedding too!

My brother Justin read a bible verse.

Ps Amanda (Ps Jesse's wife) Sang our ceremony songs
She sang one of my favourite songs during the signing of
the registry.

The vows

This was my vow to Adam:
I, Jessica Rose Jurgens, take you, Adam Lisle Smith, to be my lawfully wedded husband, secure in the knowledge that you will be my constant friend, my faithful partner in life, and my one true love.
On this special and holy day, I give to you in the presence of God and all those here today my sacred promise to stay by your side, forsaking all others as your faithful wife in sickness and in health, in joy and in sorrow, as well as through the good times and the bad.
I further promise to love you without reservation, comfort you in times of distress, encourage you to achieve all of your goals, laugh with you and cry with you, grow with you in mind and spirit, always be open and honest with you, and cherish you for as long as we both shall live.

who was there for our special day.

We had parasols as well!! These I got of eBay for $20 each!

I had a great time with my girls!

We look cute, although my neck looks sore :P Adam is so tall!
You can see my bouquet resting on my royal blue (of course) purse.

We had our reception at Boheme Restaurant on Bridge Rd,
in Richmond. One of the best restaurants in Melbourne!

My Mum made the cake!! Isn't it amazing! It has blue roses
and white butterflies & blue ribbon. I love my Mum!
She is so talented! Plus the cake tasted amazing!
We took the top small one away with us on our honeymoon :)

I couldn't seem to find a decent photo of the
table setting at the reception. You can kind of
see the bonbonerie - the shortbread cookie
wrapped up with blue ribbon. The cookies
said 'A & J'. Jackie Wesley, another great
friend make these for us!

This is a photo of my dessert. The meals were beautiful.
However I didn't get much opportunity to eat!
As you can see in the background of this photo we had
name tags that Jasmine made that also matched our colour scheme.

Also I don't think I have a photo of the lolly bar we had set up
but we had royal blue vases filled with lollies at the bar for
people to help themselves when ordering a drink.
